Two rural South Carolina elementary schools working with the Rural School and Community Trust have won grants of $100,000 each to develop and implement math programs for their pre-k through 5th grade students.
Summerton Early Childhood Center and St. Paul Elementary School — both in Summerton, SC — will receive funding to support the schools’ purchase of computer-based, hands-on math programs and other project needs. The purpose of the School Fund is to provide educational resources of immediate and direct value to schools serving children with great need. Both Summerton and St. Paul serve student populations with a free and reduced lunch rate of 97% and 98% respectively.
The Leonore Annenberg School Fund for Children is named in honor of Leonore Annenberg, the former U.S. Chief of Protocol under President Reagan. Please read more about her life and work here.
