The Coalition for Community Schools, together with the Albuquerque/Bernalillo Community Schools Partnership, will convene the 2016 National Forum between April 6 and 8, 2016 in Albuquerque, NM.  The Coalition for Community Schools National Forum happens at a time when the challenges facing public education are especially challenging.

Over half of America's school children are now poor, more of our children are members of ethnic and racial minority groups, there is deepening concern about the future of children of color, and inequities in our society are more apparent than ever.In community schools all children can thrive, regardless of their race, ethnicity, or economic status. In fact, as we "rise together" community schools pay particular attention to building on the assets of children and youth in families facing the greatest inequities.
Community schools are both a place and a set of partnerships between the school and other community resources. There are a number of national models and local community school initiatives that share a common set of principles: fostering strong partnerships, sharing accountability for results, setting high expectations, building on the community’s strengths, and embracing diversity and innovative solutions.

The Coalition for Community Schools, housed at the Institute for Educational Leadership, is an alliance of national, state and local organizations in education K-16, youth development, community planning and development, family support, health and human services, government and philanthropy as well as national, state and local community school networks.
