Rural Trust Joins Coalition in Push for Equal Access to Well-Prepared and Effective Educators For Each and Every Child

At House and Senate briefings hosted by Senator Patty Murray (D-WA) and Representative David Reichert (R-WA), the Coalition for Teaching Quality stressed the importance of profession-ready and effective teachers and principals as key to advancing educational opportunity. Panelists focused on the components necessary for teachers and principals to be "profession ready" before they enter the classroom or lead a school. More than one hundred national, state and local civil rights, disability, rural, youth, higher education, principal and education advocacy organizations have joined the Coalition in pushing for policy reforms.

The Coalition for Teaching Quality has been pushing for policy solutions that will address the reality that students in many high-need schools do not have the same type of access to great educators. The Coalition urges measures to strengthen the recruitment pipeline for teachers and principals; build robust preparation programs that ensure that future educators are profession-ready; and cultivate opportunities for continuous growth and leadership.
