On March 16, 2011, the U.S. Department of Education announced the publication in the Federal Register of the notice inviting applications (NIA) for the Advanced Placement Incentive (API) program.
Deadline for Notice of Intent to Apply: April 15, 2011. Deadline for Transmittal of Applications: May 16, 2011.
The API program awards competitive grants designed to increase the successful participation of low-income students in advanced placement courses and tests. One of the priorities of the program is to increase the availability of, and participation in, on-line advanced placement courses. For many rural communities, on-line coursework can serve as a strategy for increasing students’ exposure to college preparatory courses.
Eligible applicants are encouraged to review the NIA. For a copy of the NIA please visit www2.ed.gov/legislation/FedRegister/announcements/2011-1/031611a.html. If you have any questions, please contact the API Team Leader at: Ivonne.Jaime@ed.gov or (202) 260-1519.
